“I expect to pass through this world but once: any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.”
Wilfred Whitten (JohnO”London)
Thomas Ambrose Bowen (1916-1982)
Bowen technique was developed by the late Mr Tom Bowen in Geelong Australia in the early 1950’s. Mr Bowen was born and brought up in Geelong, Australia. Mr Bowen had a fascination with bodywork which grew from a desire to help the people who suffered from various ailments. People were amazed by the relief he was able to give to thousands. When asked where he learned the technique, Mr Bowen’s answer was ”GOD GIVEN”. Mr Bowen was a natural healer with the ability to determine the healing protocol that the clients body required by just observing their posture, walking, moving or even sitting.
Mr Bowen did not promote or teach his technique but allowed a small number of people to observe his work. He worked closely with Irene Horwood and Oswald Rentsch whom he entrusted to document his work.
Honouring Mr Bowen’s request to teach his technique after his death Oswald Rentsch and his wife, Elaine incorporated Mr Bowen’s technique in their clinic and started teaching it in 1986. Due to its effectiveness the Bowen technique has now been embraced by a broad spectrum of people with over 25,000 therapists Worldwide.
